Kung Wai works with certification and policy issues. He is a member of the Editorial Team of The Organic Standard, published by Grolink.
Kung Wai has a social work background and training in Biodynamic Agriculture and Rural Development. He travelled and participated in community and development work in Asia, Europe and USA for 12 years before settling back in Malaysia (1993). He was Sustainable Agriculture Programme Officer for Pesticide Action Network at the Asia and the Pacific regional office in Malaysia before working as a consultant.
Kung Wai is currently Chairperson of Organic Alliance Malaysia (a national association for organic operators) and Coordinator of Certification Alliance, a partnership between certification bodies in Asia and Italy offering an integrated inspection and certification service in the Asia region.
Formerly serving as Board member of the International Organic Accreditation Service (1996-2005), Kung Wai is now serving his second term (2008 - 2011) as IFOAM World Board member. He was first elected in 2005. He was member of the IFOAM Norms Management Committee from 2003 and Chair of the committee from 2005 to 2008.
Besides organic agriculture interests, Kung Wai assist his wife to operate a Rudolf Steiner based pre-school education programme, in Penang, Malaysia.
